Finding and addressing your ideal customer is absolutely key. Good news? You don't have to spend thousands on advertising to find your ideal customers. There are effective ways to reach the right audience without having to invest large sums. Here are some strategies that can help you even if you don't have much experience and are new to it.

But even creators who have been in business for some time and are still struggling to consistently drive traffic to their e-shops will find something useful.

Are you excited?

1. Define your ideal customer

Before you start looking for your customers, you need to know who they are. Good news. The ideal customer cannot exist on their own and will always be interested in a specific product you make. Do you make candles? Then you need to ask yourself who buys candles the most and what they are looking for when they are looking for them. Is your product custom wedding dresses? Then you need to know who is the ideal customer for your style. Every bride is different!

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What problems do they solve and how does your product/service help them?
  • What are their interests?

  • Where do they spend their time? Are they online? When and where can you find them?

  • What are their values and how do they make purchasing decisions? Is it an impulsive decision? Or do they think more before jumping into a purchase?

A clear definition of your target group will help you focus your marketing activities on the right people. In addition, you will get to know the profile of a person who may be interested in your products in depth and you will start to realize further connections. It is not uncommon for you to find out after creating an ideal customer profile that you may have a product, but you are not where your customers are most often. Or you don't have a system that facilitates the purchase and you lose the customer as a result.

2. Leverage the power of social media

Social media is one of the best tools for organic customer engagement. Social networks include Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, X and other smaller platforms where specific customers interested in a specific topic gather. For example, typically mothers read Emimino.

But no matter what network you want to start on, realize this one most important thing. Practically everyone already has a profile and shares some posts.

That's why you might say, this never worked for me and it's a waste of time!

The secret to mastering networks is not how many posts you create. Or how many clothes you photograph. But in strategic thinking and content planning.

Content must resonate with your ideal customer and must attract them,

If I'm targeting parents with children and I make children's toys, for example, I'll create content that my customers might actually be interested in and that can help them:

  • Advice and tips for future parents
  • How to choose a toy for the first month
  • How to recognize safe toys
  • How to play actively
  • What all you can do with children and toys
  • How toys help children develop
  • Tips for grandmothers etc...

Here are some strategies to reach potential customers on social networks:

  • Facebook Groups – Join relevant groups where your customers are active and actively participate. But be careful, most groups are non-commercial, so be careful with advertising. Give more to groups than you take from them.

  • Instagram and TikTok – Create a profile and start gaining followers by sharing interesting posts, reels, and stories. It's not always easy to succeed on social media and get enough attention. Use the power of social media to its full potential and get influencers who will help you get more attention. The technical quality of videos, posts, and of course strategy is also important. You can learn how to succeed on Instagram in my online course Instagram with Grace.

  • Threads or X network – Formerly Twitter, now Elon Musk's social network X, has always commanded great respect. Thanks to short and impactful posts (without photos), you could build a decent customer base. Now Meta has introduced its equivalent - Threads, which brings together like-minded people. Here, too, you can gain a large base of followers who will be primarily interested in your personality.

3. Blogs, articles

Content marketing is a great way to attract customers without paid advertising. The basis, of course, is your own website and knowledge of your ideal customer. I personally recommend focusing on popular search queries and starting to process them into valuable articles where you truly help people!

For example, this blog was created for that very reason. But be careful. Blogs and articles don't just have to be written! The largest search and learning platform today has become Youtube. And that's why your blog can also be in the form of videos.

Focus on:

  • Blogs – Write articles on topics that address the problems of your target audience.

  • Video tutorials – Explain how your product or service helps.

  • Podcasts and webinars – Share expertise and build credibility.

4. Collaborate with micro-influencers

Instead of expensive influencers, reach out to micro-influencers who have a smaller but engaged audience. Many are willing to collaborate in exchange for a product or a small service. A small micro-influencer can help you more than you think. Smaller influencers tend to have better relationships with their customers and it's not as common for them to promote products.

Therefore, it may seem that while they are smaller, because they don't sell as often, their fans may be more loyal.

How to do it?

  • Reach out to people on social media who have a connection to your topic and have, for example, 1,000 to 3,000 followers.
  • Monitor their influence - do they have regular comments? Are they active? How does their community react?
  • Win them over for your brand and offer long-term cooperation.
  • Agree on remuneration.
  • Create a plan for what your cooperation will look like.
  • Clarify the procedure and posting of content.

Order makes friends.

6. SEO optimization

If you have a website or e-shop, optimize it for search engines (SEO). When people search for your products or services, they should easily find you. How so?

Thanks to the Meta title and Meta description fields, you can precisely adapt your products on the pages to search queries. Unusual word combinations also work great, explaining some hard-to-convey information. For example: T-shirt for very thin children. The information is "very thin" or, for example, "Candles with almond scent especially for couples massage."

Don't forget to also describe the alt tags for images. People also search by images.

SEO optimization is a more demanding and lengthy process. However, if you offer products that you won't sell out quickly, it's definitely worth it. Thanks to optimization, traffic will then find your store on Google or Seznam whenever they search.

You are not dependent on advertising.

  • Use keywords in your texts and product descriptions.

  • Register on Google My Business if you have a local business.

  • Get reviews that increase the credibility of your business.

7. Media

It is said that the media do not have such power, but the opposite is true. Their weight has, on the contrary, multiplied and thanks to the uniqueness of these media, for example, your name on a magazine page has a weight almost comparable to a celebrity!

Try to find media that deal with your product or speak to your target group and find email addresses of editors.

  • approach them with an article for their audience for free
  • offer an interesting story rather than a product presentation
  • you can write an article about the problems that the target group faces and offer tips and tricks that will help.

Don't be afraid if you send out 100 inquiries and don't get a single reply. Try again after some time and send them again. One day you will get a reply back!

Conclusion

Reaching ideal customers without investing in advertising is not impossible. The key to success is patience, relationship building, and quality content. By combining these strategies, you can gradually attract your ideal customers naturally and without high costs. Which strategy will you try first?

Thanks and have a nice day

Helena
